Cultural Masterplan competition win with MICA @ Museum of Liverpool

We are excited to have been appointed to support MICA Architects and a team of creative consultants on the feasibility for the transformational cultural masterplan of Museum of Liverpool and the Canning Dock collection of smaller buildings following a competitive tender.

The aim is to sensitively adapt the current buildings and settings to allow the buildings to work together as a cultural campus and engage with their audience in new ways.

As well as attracting tourists, driving urban regeneration, regional and social economic growth, the plans have been accelerated due to the continuing presence of Covid-19 and the importance of spaces becoming better places to inhabit as well as visit.  At the end of 2020 we undertook a series of workshops with different staff groups from NML to listen and problem solve in order to inform the ongoing proposals

The feasibility study is anticipated to be complete prior to summer and will inform the next phase: National Museum’s Liverpool Waterfront Transformation Project.

Following the successful appointment, Su Stringfellow from HSA said “We are delighted to support MICA in their work for NML. Collaboration is an important component of our practice and we are excited to see the benefits this new working relationship will bring for the client and project.”
