Abby: “Initially, I was determined to undertake my Part 1 in London, unaware of any creative, innovative and socially driven practices in Liverpool. I then met Harrison Stringfellow, and I have now completed nearly 2 years of placement, loved every second, and learnt much more than in my BA degree. The work is interesting and varied, the office is engaging and friendly, and unlike other larger practices you are very much a core cog in the process.

Su and Sarah’s fair and supportive approach to the studio means you are encouraged to be actively involved in other projects or interests, something that seems rare and extremely valuable in the field of architecture. Whilst working here, I have developed my own projects and installations through Doing Bits Studio, and continued my role as Creative Director of Help the Homeless, an organisation supporting asylum seekers, refugees and rough sleepers.”

Annie: “I worked part time for HSA during my Part 1 placement, and then carried on doing a day a week at the start of my masters course. It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of the HSA team, which has grown and developed since I’ve known them over the past 5 years, whilst remaining true to their original principles. I’d highly recommend working with Su and Sarah, who are an inspirational pair, with a passion for interesting work and an understanding of what makes a productive and fun work environment. It was great to be involved with an exciting practice that really helped me to grow as a trainee architect, and to take advantage of what Liverpool had to offer as a creative, affordable and fun city in the north west.”
