HSA are excited to be working on a feasibility for Collage Arts, exploring design ideas and spatial arrangements within a new build development. The aim is to create a new arts space of artist studios and teaching hubs in the London district Wood Green, near Collage’s current Artspace 5 and to agree on a long lease to provide for tenants.
Collage Arts are a charity organisation that act as an active landlord who work tirelessly to support their tenants. Social impact is achieved through increased diversity in the creative sector and through the contribution the artists make to the charities wider cultural ambitions. Thus, we aim to create a building that actively supports Collage Arts position as an effective provider of spaces where creativity can flourish.
As we finalise the look and feel of the art space, we will be breaking the construction down into a series of modular units that bolt together to make the internal space. The plan is that these will be made in a temporary workshop as a community training programme.
This will seek to provide more diverse trainees ready for the construction industry. We will be looking to partner local collages and others and explore how this could be accredited with links into the CITB qualifications. This will build strong community collateral through the development of a skills and employability programme.
