Bunch

Fit out of a natural wine bar

Harrison Stringfellow were approached by Bobby and Lara, to help realise their dream of offering Liverpool’s largest selection of natural wines by the glass and the bottle. Inspired by their favourite European drinking spots, Bunch wanted to bring people together through a shared love of quality wine in a relaxed environment.

With a construction budget of just over £10,000 HSA focussed on a couple of key moves that would reflect their clear aspirations.  Firstly the bar was moved from the back of the ground floor to the front, and sized to use an off the shelf stainless undercounter, allowing money to be spent on a unique top.  We chose to stay local and picked Granby Rock for a special finish.  Secondly we worked with our in-house contractor to design and construct a new wine cellar and display shelving which is all constructed from roofing battens.  The back bar display is made from a single sheet of plywood.  We retained the existing exposed brick walls and the dark floor, which was in fair condition and could not justify being replaced, instead carefully choosing colours to complement this.  The dark ceiling (Farrow and Ball – Tanners Brown) offsets the gold lighting cable to create an atmosphere of warmth and intimacy. Bespoke tiled poseur tables provide the ideal layout for informal wine tastings in the main bar.
