The Mill at Halsall Green is the development and extension of existing mill into dedicated wedding venue, with a new build contemporary glazed extension and separate ‘hides’ as guest accommodation. Sited in the Open Countryside, adjacent to a Site of Biological Interest, and on a Flood Plain, a bespoke design solution seeks to respect and reflect the seasons of the surrounding natural environment with reflective materials used for the new build elements, resulting in minimal disruption to habitats and maximum retention of trees. We have used the rich biodiversity as a design generator rather than seeing it as an obstacle to development.

This was a complex scheme, leading a wide ranging Design Team, including ecology and sustainable drainage. It involved bringing redundant buildings/site back into use as a commercial venture whilst ensuring appropriate development within Greenbelt / Open Countryside to suit planning constraints.
Careful consideration of materials and landscaping, provide clear spatial configurations to provide usable, adaptable and unique spaces.
