HSA were commissioned by Maray, a startup restaurant and bar, to design their new venue in the Ropewalks area of Liverpool. New licensing laws in this area of Liverpool have resulted in a number of independent venues offering small plates alongside cocktails and quality drinks. With a clear idea of the type of offer the owners wanted to deliver, HSA worked with them to translate this into the existing restrictive space.

Efficient planning and arrangement of services maximised the number of covers on a tight budget. Central to the approach was the variety and type of seating, offering something different to competitors along the same street, a long central table supports their social approach to sharing food. Colours, lighting and materials were discussed in a collaborative approach, complimenting the high standard of food service and music policy resulting in a relaxed ambience.
